Unter Spiele-Last – hier unter Verwendung von Tom Clancy's Hawx – erreicht unser Muster der XFX HD 7870 BE eine GPU-Temperatur von 75 °C. Das ist etwas schlechter, als das, was die Radeon-HD-7870-Referenzkühlung tut, doch folgte XFX unserem Rat und hat schlicht leicht höhere Temperaturen zu Gunsten einer besseren Geräuschkulisse in Kauf genommen.

Unter Furmark konnten wir die beiden Ventilatoren dieser Black Edition erstmals wirklich wahrnehmen – allerdings machten diese sich dabei nicht störend bemerkbar. Die GPU-Temperatur lag bei dieser simulierten Maximallast bei 84 °C.

Wie schon die Referenzkarte der HD 7870 zeigt, entwickeln sich hohe Temperaturen im Bereich der Bauteile der Spannungsversorgung. Durch die etwas höhere Spannung und die höheren Taktraten, erreicht dieser Bauteilbereich eine Temperatur von 93,1 °C. Das Maximum für eine typische Arbeitstemperatur der Fairchild Driver Mosfets, welche hier die heißesten Punkte darstellen, liegt bei 125 °C. Damit ist hier noch nicht mit Problemen zu rechnen. Wer allerdings mittels manueller Spannungserhöhung Übertaktungserfolge erzielen möchte, könnte unter Umständen solche Temperaturregionen erreichen.
